Abstract:

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), commonly referred to as drones, unmanned aerial systems (UASs) or remotely piloted aerial systems (RPASs) are simple hand-operated short-range systems that do not require an airstrip. Recent advances in this field have opened up a vast new area of opportunities in remote sensing for observation, measurement, mapping, monitoring, and management in various environments, natural (e.g. marine, forests), production (e.g. agriculture), and built (e.g. urban). Some of the unique characteristics of drones include flexible maneuverability, high efficiency, speed, precision and low operating costs, compared to aerial surveys. One of the major drawbacks of conventional UAVs are their horizontal take off and reduced endurance. A sufficiently safe, reliable and intelligent vertical take-off and landing fixed-wing UAV (VTOL) is the need of the hour. Relying on the technical accumulation of the parent company in the field of UAV flight control and navigation for many years, our company has made deep customizations and integration of flight control, focusing on the R&D of vertical take-off and landing using fixed wing UAV products of JOUAV® series. This talk will focus on the advantages of using VTOL and its various environmental applications.
