Given the specificity of details provided in a case report or case series, authors are required to obtain consent from patients (or their guardians if they are not adults or lack capacity to provide informed consent, or next of kin if deceased) for the publication of the case(s). Consent to publish is a journal requirement and cannot be exempted by an ethics committee.
